so was it a band-of-pirates concert, or was the pirateness unrelated?
They were unrelated. One was a symphonic band concert, the other was part of an invitation for the fencing team to goof around as part of a Pirates of the Carribean promotion.
I must say, pirates playing the tuba would be quite a sight.

re: pirate tuba-playing... the other day, something got me wondering whether an elephant could play a harmonica with its trunk. i see no reason why this would not work. and it'd be extremely cool.
